Burris Company designs, manufactures, and distributes rifle scopes, binoculars and related optics products, some of which it imports from the Philippines under GSP. It also is committed to increasing its U.S. manufacturing.
Perhaps counter-intuitively to those that believe imports replace American manufacturing, higher U.S. tariffs resulting from GSP expiration in 2013 delayed Burris’ plans to expand its American manufacturing. With GSP back in place since 2015, Burris has been able to hire new workers, increase worker benefits, and make new capital investments in Colorado.
